Spring

Spring tends to inspire, doesn’t it? A new season full of promise!

I have been quiet for various reasons, but more than one person has now actually commented on the absence of new posts and tonight there is finally something to be said.

I have referred to the advice that I pay for occasionally during these rambles. And I have had a hard time grasping my current homework. Being surrounded by death and hardship and illness… I think this has taken a toll on everyone. We are all in our own boats, trying to make sense and just … continue…

When these topics started, I was determined to “only take with me that which inspires me”. That means that I need to let go of “things” that no longer serve me. It all sounds simple. But in practice, what does that mean? I have come to the conclusion that I need to let go of things that make me unhappy and/or leave me unfulfilled.

And this can be anything!

Yesterday, one of my colleagues indicated that you always have time. She emphasized that you can make the time if you really want to. At that particular moment, I was a bit frazzled and did not agree with her.

But tonight I realise that everything that you let go of, opens up a space for something else. Be it time or space… Everything that is cluttering your mind or your heart or your home can be removed, creating opportunities. Perhaps for growth, or for creativity, new relationships, new challenges… whatever it may be that you need in your day to feel happy and fulfilled.

At the beginning of the year, or then at the beginning of a new season, we are all always full of hope and eager to make resolutions that will guide us to become better, faster, wealthy… How easily do we disappoint ourselves? And how hard are we on ourselves?

So at the beginning of a new season, I challenge myself, and also you, to take a moment and realign your goals and hopes and dreams, with your convictions, with what you truly believe. Align it with your talents and your abilities.

Be honest with regard to things that are not growing, things that leave you spinning, things that get you stuck or lost, or both. Name those things that are not making you happy and that are not fulfilling your purpose… and let go… It does not have to be forceful and it does not have to be all at once. But I challenge you to see and then snip off all the bits that are not truly you. I believe that by doing this, we can attract more of what we are truly meant to be.
